Ephor – Activities & Engagement
I’m really excited to take on the role of Activities and Engagement Ephor this year. My main goal is to encourage pupils to get involved with the huge variety of activities on offer at The Edinburgh Academy and to help widen those opportunities even further. I want to make sure everyone feels inspired to take part in something new and to find activities that truly excite them.
I first joined the school in Nursery and have continued all the way through to 7ths. It’s lovely now to be mentoring the Nursery children—just as I was mentored when I was their age! Being able to give back to the community that’s supported me for so long is incredibly special.
My favourite subject is History—it’s the class I always look forward to. I love how thought-provoking it is, and I find every era fascinating, from ancient civilisations to more modern events. I also really enjoy Drama and love performing in school plays and musicals. Even though I don’t take Music as a subject, singing in choirs and playing in orchestras are some of my favourite parts of school life.
After leaving EA, I hope to study History at university, ideally at the University of Bristol. I’ve also considered a Liberal Arts course, which would let me study History alongside English Literature or a language.
What makes The Edinburgh Academy so special to me is our strong community—there’s always a friendly face and someone willing to help. My advice to anyone starting in the Senior School would be to get stuck in! Try as many things as you can, even if you’re not sure you’ll be good at them. You might just find a new passion—and you’ll always have support along the way.
