Ephor – Joint Head of Mentoring
As Joint Head of Mentoring, my goal is to help establish a mentoring system that allows students to receive the support they need—whether academic or personal—from senior pupils. I hope this initiative will strengthen inter-year relationships and create lasting connections, so that younger pupils always have someone they can turn to for guidance and encouragement.
I joined The Edinburgh Academy in 2nds (S1), when I moved to Edinburgh, and it’s hard to believe that five years have passed since then. During that time, I’ve come to really value the strong sense of community and the dedication of the staff. The teachers here are incredibly passionate and supportive—you always know there’s someone willing to help, listen, or offer advice. It’s something I know I’ll miss most when I leave.
Academically, I love Advanced Higher History and English, as both challenge me to think critically and creatively. My languages come a close second—I’ve always enjoyed exploring how words and culture connect us to the wider world.
I’m currently applying to study Law at university, with my top choice being a joint law course at UCL. The study of law fascinates me because it combines analytical thinking, debate, and real-world impact.
For anyone new to the Senior School, my biggest piece of advice is to try every activity that interests you, even if you don’t know anyone doing it. It might feel intimidating at first, but after a few tries, you’ll start meeting people who share your enthusiasm—and that’s how the best friendships are formed.
