Ephor – Engagement and Inclusion

As an Ephor this year, my role focuses on encouraging engagement across the school through co-curricular activities and promoting inclusion—ensuring everyone feels they have a group or space where they can express themselves and develop their interests. One of my main goals is to help start a new Neurodiversity Support Group, creating another way for pupils to connect and feel understood within our school community.

I joined The Edinburgh Academy in Primary 1 and have absolutely loved my time here. I’ve always felt incredibly supported and happy, surrounded by teachers and peers who genuinely care. My favourite subjects are Music and History, and you’ll most likely find me in the Music department, singing in choirs or playing in the orchestra. Outside the classroom, I love spending time outdoors in the Pentlands with Duke of Edinburgh or Scouts, or giving my all on the hockey pitch with the 2nd XI.

Looking ahead, I hope to study Marketing or Events Management at university, with the long-term goal of starting my own business. I’m excited to explore how creativity and organisation can come together to bring ideas to life.

What makes The Edinburgh Academy so special to me is its size. Being part of a smaller school means we’re able to build strong relationships—not just within our year groups, but across all years—and with teachers who are always willing to give up their time to help us reach our full potential. At EA, you’re never limited to just one area of school life, and that’s what makes it so enriching.

My advice to new pupils would be to grab every opportunity that comes your way. Try something new, step outside your comfort zone, and make the most of every moment—school goes by far too quickly!
