Ephor – Charities and Mentoring

As both a Charities Ephor and one of the Mentoring Ephors, my goal this year is to strengthen connections across the school and promote greater involvement in both charitable and mentoring initiatives. Through mentoring, I hope to help bridge the gap between year groups—ensuring that younger pupils feel supported not only academically but also personally, by those who have been in their position before.

As a Charities Ephor, I want to further develop the role of charitable work within the school community. This year, we’re raising money for Maggie’s, and my aim is to make sure every pupil feels they can contribute in some way. I’d love to see a wide variety of fundraising events—ranging from music, sport, and drama to art and academics—so that everyone can get involved in something that reflects their interests. We also hope to expand volunteer opportunities, encouraging pupils to challenge themselves and give back to the community in meaningful ways.

I first joined The Edinburgh Academy in Primary 1, and since then, I’ve always felt the strong sense of community that makes this school so special. There’s a genuine kindness here—teachers and pupils alike are always ready to help, listen, or offer support.

My favourite subjects are English and RMPS. I love English because of my passion for literature and writing, and I find it fascinating to analyse and interpret different texts. RMPS, on the other hand, constantly challenges me to think deeply about big questions and explore new perspectives.

Looking ahead, I hope to study Business Management at university.

My advice to anyone joining the Academy would be to get involved in as much as possible—try new sports, join clubs, attend lunchtime activities. You never know what you might discover—or who you might meet.
