Ephor – Head of Carmichael
As Head of Carmichael Division, my goal this year is to strengthen the sense of connection within the division by introducing leadership roles for pupils in different year groups. I hope this will create more opportunities for younger students to take on responsibility, develop confidence, and feel more involved in division life.
I first joined The Edinburgh Academy in Nursery, so the school has been a big part of my life from the very beginning. Over the years, I’ve come to really appreciate the supportive and close-knit community that makes the Academy so special.
My favourite subjects are PE and RMPS. I enjoy PE because it gives me the chance to explore the different factors that influence performance in sport, from physical ability to psychology. RMPS is another subject I find fascinating because it encourages open-mindedness and helps me understand different perspectives and beliefs about the world.
Looking ahead, I hope to study Sport and Exercise Science at university. I’ve always been passionate about sport, and I’m excited by the idea of combining that with science to better understand human performance and health.
What I love most about The Edinburgh Academy is its size. Being part of a smaller school allows us to build stronger relationships with both teachers and pupils across all year groups, creating a real sense of community and belonging.
My advice to anyone joining the Senior School is simple—get stuck in! There are so many opportunities to get involved, from music and drama to sports and clubs. Make the most of everything that comes your way, try new things, and enjoy every moment—you’ll get out as much as you put in.
