Hockey Leadership Roles Announcement

The quality of a programme is defined only by those who guide it and uphold the standards each day. The importance of selecting leaders who have the responsibility to better the programme and leave a lasting legacy is integral to the continued growth of hockey at the Edinburgh Academy.

Leadership is an action, not a position, and the individuals given these responsibilities display the characteristics which will contribute to not only empowering, but inspiring others. In this spirit, there are numerous ‘leaders’ identified in our hockey programme, which links with the ever-developing research base on leadership characteristics.

In a new addition to our leadership structure is a new role identified to try and provide a link throughout the whole hockey programme. The role of ‘Hockey Programme Captain’ houses the responsibility to join the pieces of the puzzle together to ensure consistency throughout the entirety of the programme. A crucial tenet of this role is to embed THRIVE leadership behaviours awareness throughout all of the teams across the Senior School and engage and encourage youngsters to look up to the role models in the senior teams, both male and female.

The first individual to occupy this role for session 2021/22 is an outstanding individual, who possesses a real passion for the development of others and a supreme level of care and compassion for the continued development of hockey within the school.

Hockey Programme Captain 2021/22 – Charlotte

On accepting her new role, Charlotte stated, “I am really excited about this role and look forward to leading the School’s hockey programme with a set of new objectives. I am keen to motivate all year groups and teams to have fun and succeed this year and beyond”
