Ephor – Charities
This year, I’m part of the Charities Ephor team—something I’ve wanted to do since 4ths (S3), when I first began helping with fundraising as part of my Duke of Edinburgh Award. My main goal is to raise as much money as possible for this year’s chosen charity and to encourage others to get involved. I’ve always enjoyed helping people, so I’m always ready to take part in any opportunity that allows me to make a difference.
I joined The Edinburgh Academy in Geits (P7), and from the start, I looked up to the Ephors. To now be part of the team myself feels like a dream come true.
My favourite subject is German. I’ve always enjoyed learning another language—it’s challenging but incredibly rewarding, and I’d recommend it to anyone because it’s such a valuable skill. I also have a passion for History, and at university, I plan to study both History and German. Continuing with History will allow me to build on the skills I’ve developed at the Academy while exploring my love for language and culture.
What makes The Edinburgh Academy so special to me is the strong sense of community. It’s a close-knit environment where everyone supports one another, and the friendliness of the staff really helps make that possible.
My advice to anyone starting at the Academy would be to enjoy every second of your time here. It goes by faster than you think, and there’s so much to take part in. Get involved, try new things, and make the most of every opportunity—you’ll get far more out of your time here if you do.
