Ephor – Head of Cockburn

As Cockburn Division Head, my main goals this year are to win the Division Cup and to get as many people as possible involved in the wide range of events on offer. I want everyone to feel the same excitement and team spirit that make division competitions such a unique part of life at The Edinburgh Academy.

My journey at the Academy has been a bit different from most—I first joined in Nursery and stayed until P4 before leaving for a few years, then returned in 6ths (S5). Coming back has made me appreciate the school’s welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community even more.

My favourite subjects are Maths, Economics, and History. At university, I’m hoping to study Economics and Politics, as I’m fascinated by how the two subjects intersect to influence societies and decision-making on a global scale.

What I think makes The Edinburgh Academy truly special is the close bonds between different year groups. That sense of connection helps bring the whole school together and creates an environment where everyone feels supported and included.

My advice to anyone joining the Senior School would be simple: go for it. Take on every opportunity that comes your way, even the ones that feel a bit outside your comfort zone. You’ll never regret getting involved—and most importantly, make sure to have fun along the way.
