Ephor – Head of Houses

Hello, my name is Tom, and I’m this year’s Head of Houses. My goal for the year is simple: to help lead my division to victory and bring home the Division Cup. More importantly, I want to encourage everyone to get involved and enjoy the sense of camaraderie and competition that makes division life such a special part of The Edinburgh Academy.

I’ve been at the Academy since Primary 1, and throughout my time here, I’ve made the most of the many opportunities the school offers. I’m an active member of both the choir and orchestra, and I play Rugby and Cricket for the 1st XV and 1st XI, as well as Fives. These activities have given me so many memorable experiences and have helped me form strong friendships across different year groups.

Academically, my favourite subject is Chemistry because I love understanding how the world works on a molecular level. I plan to study Chemical Engineering at university so that I can apply this passion in a practical and innovative way.

What I love most about The Edinburgh Academy is how it brings people together through shared experiences. My favourite example of this is Division Music—it unites the entire school in a way that truly captures the spirit of EA: teamwork, creativity, and pride.

If I were to give one piece of advice to anyone joining the school, it would be to get involved in as much as possible. Whether that’s trying out fives at lunch, joining a music group like the Acafellas, or taking part in drama or sport, there’s something here for everyone. The Academy offers countless opportunities—so make the most of them all.
